Janelle Barreto

JANELLE BARRETO is Associate Director of Universal Music Enterprises, Film & Television, Contract Administration, and works in the finalizing, legal matters, and fiscal closing the Synch Licensing deals in all of today’s entertainment mediums, including Film, Television, Commercials, Video Games, Soundtracks, Home Video, Internet, Musical Cards, Musical Items and more, for Universal Music Groups’ extensive catalog, which includes top artists such as U2, The Who, KISS, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, Duffy, Rhianna, No Doubt, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and  Chris Cornell.

Prior to Universal Music, Janelle was Manager of Rhino Entertainment’s, Contract Administration in Television deals, working with all of the leading business affairs, production, and clearance companies for top shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Cold Case, Entourage, American Idol,  and Sex In The City.

In 2002 Janelle worked on the merchendise side of licensing for Entertainment Merchandisers, developing and distributing concert merchandise for such acts as No Doubt, Blink 182, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears.  Prior in 1999, Janelle worked with attorney David Erlich and DME Management / Laser Records to shop, negotiate, and finalize a recording deal for the then undiscovered and unsigned Canadian band, Nickelback.
In addition, Janelle is a recording artist and musician with several original albums released under her self-owned and created imprint label, Exploited Music.  In 2006 Janelle was an ASCAP award receipt in songwriting, and is currently a member of ASCAP, National Association of Record Industry Professionals, and the Grammy Recording Academy.

Janelle has a Bachelors of Arts in English from UCLA, with continued courses through UCLA Music Business Extension, and a graduate from the Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena.
