Media Credentials Guidelines

Dfest 2009 Press Credentials Application

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES AND CLICK THE APPROPRIATE LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE TO PROCEED WITH THE APPLICATION PROCESS.

NOT ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE APPROVED.

Press credentials and photos passes are limited.

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY July 10, 2009.

Applications received after July 10, 2009 will not be considered.

Applicants will be notified no later than July 15, 2009.

YOU MUST BE ON ASSIGNMENT TO COVER DFEST MUSIC CONFERENCE & FESTIVAL.

You must be covering the overall conference & festival. (For example, a magazine is doing a feature on the bands performing Dfest Music Festival for the July issue.)

If your intention is to come to the festival to do a story on only one artist and not the festival, you need to be credentialed through that artist. You will need to make your own arrangements to meet the band once you are onsite. If you are not credentialed through the festival, you will not have access to the media area. We will not credential media for assignments that do not include the festival as a whole.

An editor's letter (emailed to press@dfest.com) is required for all affiliated freelance photographers and writers. We will not accept ANY applications from freelance photographers or writers who are not officially on assignment for a publication. If you are affiliated with a band, you must obtain entry and passes through that band. Note: Emerging artists are only allowed two working crew passes, so it will be up to the band to determine whether they can accommodate your request.

College newspapers and web-based publications can send writers only. We will not be granting photo passes to college photographers or website photographers. Certain special circumstances will be reviewed and decided upon on an individual basis. Only photographers with SLR, interchangeable lens cameras will be allowed into the photo pits. There will be no 'point and shoot' cameras permitted.

NATIONAL MEDIA OUTLETS:
Everyone interested in covering DFEST must complete the official application form. All applications are carefully screened.

INTERNATIONAL MEDIA OUTLETS:
All international publications interested in covering DFEST must complete the official application form in addition to emailing a detailed editor's letter about your assignment to press@dfest.com on publication letterhead. Applications will be carefully screened by our international media department.

WEB ZINES and BLOGGERS:
Web zine writers and bloggers MUST provide specific information about your site in the description section of the application. Credentials for web zines and bloggers are extremely limited and will be evaluated closely.

FREELANCE PRINT MEDIA:
We will NOT accept any applications from freelance writers who are not on a confirmed assignment. An editor's letter must be emailed to press@dfest.com on publication letterhead at the same time as your application or it will not be considered.

PHOTOGRAPHY

PHOTOGRAPHERS ON ASSIGNMENT:
Everyone interested in taking photos at DFEST must be on assignment and must complete the official application form. All applications are carefully screened.

COLLEGE/WEBSITE PHOTOGRAPHERS:
We only grant a very limited number of photo passes to college newspapers and website photographers. Applications will be closely reviewed.

*PLEASE NOTE*
If you wish to contact us offering to be a festival photographer for DFEST, you wil be required to submit examples of your work and you will be required to sign an official photographer agreement which requires you to give us all of your raw photos that you take at Dfest. PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Only photographers with SLR, interchangeable lens cameras will be allowed into the photo pits. Point-and-shoot cameras will not be permitted.
