Dfest 2009 Volunteers

We are now seeking volunteers for the 2009 Dfest Music Conference + Festival.  The application will be available starting December 12, 2008. We are looking for people to work in a variety of departments, including pre-festival set-up, the information booth, catering and hospitality crews, sponsor booths, conference registration, conference monitors, festival production, and many, many more.  We are looking for volunteers who are flexible and who are ready, willing, and able to go anywhere on the event site and at our host hotel to lend a helping hand and who are excited to be a part of a major community event.

Volunteers play an extremely important role in setting the positive and empowering vibe for the whole Dfest experience, because they're the face and voice of the event for festival patrons and conference attendees. So, we need special people to make the Dfest experience spectacular. We want everyone to remember that the festival is stellar not only for the great independent music and envigorating education, but also because of the congenial, friendly and supportive staff they encounter!

This opportunity is only for folks who don't mind working. If you just want to attend panels and see
bands, then we prefer you either buy a badge or a festival wristband. The focus of the volunteer program is attendee services. Here's what that means:

- help guests figure out their coordinates and destinations
- assist box office and registration staff
- ensure that festival attendees are safe and getting their fun on
- help attendees with physical limitations access the music festival and conference and enjoy the show
- help keep the festival grounds clean by encouraging guests to recycle

There are two types of Dfest volunteers:

Event Volunteers

Event volunteers work two days prior to the festival and during the actual days of the festival.

Orientation for Event Volunteers is TBA

Festival volunteers are required to work two shifts of approximately six -eight hours each across the two days of the festival and pre-event starting Wednesday, July 22, 2009 through Saturday, July 25, 2009.

Each festival volunteer will receive:

-  Access to the conference and festival
- Dfest staff t-shirt
- Invitation to the Dfest Kick-Off Party
- Access to volunteer hospitality lounge at the festival
- And an unforgettable experience!

Music Production Volunteers

Music Production volunteers are our support staff for our production staff and include stage manager positions, stage runners, and tech assistants.

Orientation for Music Production Volunteers is TBA.
Production volunteers are required to work both evenings of the festival from festival load-in times in the afternoon until 2:30 am each evening, approximately two daily 12 hour shifts.  Excellent leadership abilities, stamina, and a desire for a hands-on, interactive experience need apply.

Check-in for Production volunteers takes place Wednesday, July 22, 2009.

- Invitation to the Dfest Kick-Off Party
